Fish oil replacement with different vegetable oils in gilthead seabream, Sparus aurata diets: Effects on fatty acid metabolism based on whole-body fatty acid balance method and genes expression - Samuel Ofori-Mensah, Mustafa Yıldız, Murat Arslan, Vahap El

This study evaluated the effect of total or partial replacement of fish oil with camelina seed oil or chia oil on growth performance, FA metabolism and the expression of genes in the de novo biosynthesis of HUFA in juvenile gilthead sea bream. With diets limited in supply of highly unsaturated FA (HUFA), the appearance and accumulation of products from the elongation and desaturation of dietary ALA and LA signify attempts by juvenile gilthead sea bream to alleviate EFA deficiencies in their diets. However, the de novo synthesis was not enough to alleviate the EFA deficiencies.
