Omega deficiency is often overlooked because it can look so different from dog to dog.
Often it is mistaken for an allergy because some of the symptoms are quite similar.
The variance of symptoms is due to inflammation being an opportunist – it will present itself wherever there is something already happening in the body.
Some display in the skin and coat, and some display in the joints… Others may result in full blown disease (various types) if inflammation remains unchecked for a long period of time.
By adding Smart Earth Camelina Oil to your dog's diet, you may be able to address many of the negative health problems associated with this deficiency.
Relative to other vegetable sources of omegas (like flax, canola, hemp, etc.), Smart Earth Camelina oil contains the most balanced profile of Omega 3, 6, & 9.
Our Camelina crop is farmed with minimal irrigation or fertilization required, plus we are a vegetable source of omegas rather than a protein source (fish oils).
With more than a decade of experience, we work directly with our growers & have full control over our entire supply chain. It means the highest quality Camelina Oil on the market.
"Hi there. My name is Adrienne. I'm involved in equine and canine rehab. We've been using the Smart Earth Camelina Oil for our horses for several years and when I got a dog with hip dysplasia in, I knew that that was something I wanted to get him on. And since we've started it, he's had huge improvement with his discomfort levels. He's able to run again, he's playing with the other dogs and he's finally able to act his age and he's a young dog. So, that's really nice to see."
"We have another dog here who has horrible allergies and the daily dose of camelina oil seems to really help keep the skin inflammation down and keep her comfortable. All of our dogs here get individualized diets based on what they need and everybody gets a shot of the Smart Earth Camelina oil; dogs and horses, every single day. They all seem to love the flavor. They love lapping it up and I won't go a day without it."
"We've seen huge improvements from coat condition all the way down to pain management. Great for the arthritic guys, hip dysplasia. It's really made the world of difference and we won't go without it. Thank you so much Smart Earth."
Supplementation may help your dog's
aching joints, so they can move better and
with less pain.
Camelina Oil's Vitamin E content may help your dog grow a fuller, softer coat and help reduce shedding and improve skin health.
May aid with allergic hypereactivity, boosting your pet's immune system and overall health.
May help boost cardiovascular health and speed up recovery time so your dog can perform at their best.
Try Smart Earth Camelina Oil today and if you don’t see a happier, healthier pet then just email us at sales@secamelina.com and we’ll give you all your money back. We’re taking a risk by doing this. No it does not, it is a squeeze bottle.
That entirely depends on the dose you are feeding. A 16oz container will last 95 days for a dog up to 25lb at a serving of 5ml/day. A 16oz container will last a 50lb dog 47 days and so on. Larger doses will mean your container lasts less time for you.
Smart Earth Camelina Oil is approved by Health Canada as an LRVP - a Low Risk Veterinary Supplement for horses and dogs. Health Canada has labeling guidelines for these products and we are required to comply, even though our camelina oil is considered a LOW RISK product.
Despite the fact that there is no evidence camelina oil creates harm or risk to lactating animals or animals with bleeding issues, because there are no long term, documented, studies to the contrary, these risk statements are mandatory.
There has minimal clinical research on dogs fed camelina oil, to our knowledge. However, there are many articles on the health benefits of alpha-linolenic and other polyunsaturated fatty acids in both animals and humans. We do have a research summary of the apparent benefits of adding Long Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids of the type found in Camelina to the diet of dogs. We can send you this research sample on request.
One study relevant to the benefits of Camelina Oil in dogs can be found here.
Camelina oil is high in ALA with a 1.6:1 - 1.8:1 ratio of omega 3s to omega 6s.
The oil is fine to consume after 2 years at 20C (70F) if unopened and stored in the dark, but not as fresh as it could be. It depends on whether it has been exposed to air and light too. As a general rule we say our oil is fine after 1 year if opened and at room temperature not kept in the dark. The peroxide value is an indication of oxidation stability. Our oil must have a pv of less than 5 when freshly crushed. This value increases as it oxidizes. A pv of >20 is not recommended. We consider long term storage is 2 years at 5C (40F) but at least 5 years if kept frozen. Hope this helps.
Yes. Dogs love it! Dog dose: 5 mL (1 teaspoon) per 25 lb body weight) once daily. Cats - just a drizzle on their food.
Our non-GMO cold-pressed Camelina oil is Health Canada approved as a veterinary supplement for horses and for dogs. As a high omega oil it is processed in a food-grade facility and it has been sold to other buyers for human consumption. But we presently are not marketing it as such or selling it in the retail grocery store.
